Hansen and Hastings have it out

Saturday, 09 August 2008

Today's action seems relatively low, but that's only in comparison to some of the half-million plus pots we've had over the last month. The average size of the largest pots at the time of writing this on the nosebleed tables is in the $80,000 range. If you ask me, it's kind of sick to think of an $80,000 pot as small.

Brian Hastings has been a multi-tabling long time Full Tilt pro who seems to be logged in to a couple of tables at all times. This is not the first time these two red name pro's have clashed, and it will not be the last by any means. This hand is a typical all in situation on a short-handed PLO table:

With Gus having both top pair, and 12 outs to the straight, there was almost no way he wouldn't be willing to get it all in. If he wasn't ahead at the time, he had a plethora of outs to get there. Hastings on the other hand had an over-pair, which is still a very strong holding in PLO short-handed and needed to protect against the draw.

Gus has been getting dealt a series of top-ranked hands in this latest session, with them all getting involved in serious pots. Just a few hands after this one Gus is dealt #Ah#Ks#8h#As, bringing down a $116,745 pot, gifted by Phil Galfond (OMGClayAiken).
